The following directions are courtesy of White Cross Bay

 

White Cross Bay is approximately 15 minutes drive off junction 36 of the M6. Follow the direction signs to Windermere on the A591 until you reach the Town Center. Pass the town center, staying on the A591 following signs for Ambleside. White Cross Bay is on your left hand side after approximately 2 miles.Direction to White Cross Bay

By Air…
Manchester, Glasgow and Newcastle Airports offer access to the whole of the UK.

By Road…
Using motorways from Manchester, it takes approximately 1.5 hours to Cumbria and the Lake District, whilst the average journey time from London and the south-east is around 5 hours. From Birmingham to Cumbria – the Lake District is only 2.5 hours.

By Rail…
Virgin trains operate to Cumbria from London, Scotland, Birmingham, Manchester, the South Coast and the West Country. Stations for the area include Lancaster, Oxenholme, The Lake District (near Kendal), Penrith and Carlisle. The typical journey time from Edinburgh to Carlisle is only 1.5 hours, whilst London to connecting trains to Windermere takes just 20 minutes.  Regular bus services link the main stations to the rest of the country.

Getting Around The Lakes…
Cumbria’s network of rail, bus and boat services make traveling around by public transport an excellent way to see the county and makes it very easy for you to leave the car behind. Many of Cumbria’s visitor attractions are accessible by public transport. There are also special offer tickets, and combined travel and attraction tickets which make journeying and sightseeing even cheaper.
